Reasons for bearings exceeding normal temperature during operation

In the practical application of deep groove ball bearings, the problem of bearing heating is often encountered. How to deal with it?
Firstly, it is necessary to understand the cause of bearing heating.
The reasons why bearings exceed normal temperature during operation may include:
1. Uneven fit between the bearing and the journal or too small contact surface (clearance is too small), and excessive specific pressure per unit area. This situation mostly occurs after the new machine is tested or replaced with new bearing shells;
2. Bearing deviation or crankshaft bending or twisting;
3. Poor quality of bearing shells, inconsistent lubricating oil quality (low viscosity), or blocked oil circuits. The oil supply pressure of the gear oil pump is too low, and the oil supply is interrupted, causing a lack of oil in the bearing shells and generating dry friction;
4. The bearings have debris or excessive or dirty lubricating oil;
5. Uneven excessive wear on the bearing shells;
6. When installing the compressor, the coupling between the main shaft and the main shaft of the electric motor (or diesel engine) was not aligned, resulting in a large error and causing the two shafts to tilt.
After understanding the cause of the bearing heating, we can take targeted measures.
Exclusion method:
1. Scrape and grind the bearing shells using the coloring method to ensure that their contact surfaces meet the requirements and improve the specific pressure per unit area;
2. Adjust the fitting clearance appropriately, check the bending and twisting of the crankshaft, and replace it with a new crankshaft or repair it according to the situation;
3. Use high-quality bearing shells, check the oil pipeline and gear oil pump, use lubricating oil that meets quality requirements, and check and adjust the oil pump to achieve the required pressure;
4. Clean and replace with new engine oil, adjust the oil pressure properly;
5. Replace with new bearing shells;
6. The concentricity of the two machines should be correct, and the leveling tolerance value should comply with the values specified in the machine manual. Especially when using rigid connections between compressors and motors, it is important to pay attention to alignment.
